Had a stressful meeting just now. Supposed to go down to another office and give some briefing for a new policy to be adopted by all countries. Well, from what I see, I'm just a messenger coming down to give a message on what they have to do from now on. Hmm.. maybe I didn't convey my message well, or there's some mis-communication along the way.. Well, the message was totally rejected.
Not here to bitch abt my job. But this makes me thought of the parable mentioned by Weiliang last Sat in Seng. In Matthews, Jesus told this parable about a landlord renting out his land to a group of tenants. When it is time for harvest, he send his servant to collect his rents. Each time the landlord sends a servant, the tenants will beat him up and chase him away, refusing to pay. Finally, the landlord send his son to collect the rents thinking that they will pay on the account of his son. But lo and be hold, they actually killed his son. Well, in the end, the wicked tenants got punished.
This story made me realised how Jesus (the son in the story) must have felt when the Jews rejected him. I identify myself more with the servants in my own experience; I'm on a mission to convey a message and ppl are resistant to it. In the case of my job, i've a higher boss whom I can refer to. If they don't listen, just bring out my big boss. How about sharing the gospel? If they dun listen, or even worst, beat you up (mentally or physically), can you turn to your big boss? Of course! I'm reminded that my God is the biggest boss of all! Even my company's boss has limited jurisdiction and power. But the one above has the ultimate power, the ultimate boss of all.
In the end, the problem was solved when I went back to office and sought help from another boss. I took comfort in knowing that whatever probs I run into at work, there's always someone above in my company who is able to help. Similarly, I believe that all our encounters of negative responses from our "message" sharing will be solved if only we turn back to our big boss above. He's the best boss any one can ask for! That is my source of comfort.
May the peace of God be always with you!
