Camp Snippets

Took this picture on our way to the kayaking centre on second day of the camp. Mind you, we haven't started our actual kayaking yet. Haha..

The kayaking session was most enjoyable, amidst the disorganized instructors. After giving some brief briefings and shouting a furry of instructions, they finally managed to launch all of us out onto the Kallang river. Having 14 pairs of kayaks forming a Ralf is indeed an interesting feat to behold. Despite my initial opinions of them, I must say that the instructors certainly did a good job of pushing the Ralf away from the launch area while the waves kept pushing us back. It was most enjoyable. All you need to do is to hold tight.

What followed was a relaxing cruise down the river towards marina bay. Well, it's not exactly a cruise. Especially when the kayak you are in travels in a zigzag manner no matter how you row it. Still, the view of the Singapore flyer, the wonderful weather and scenic view of the river banks was worth all the effort. Not to mention the Singaporean version of the "Water splashing festival" on our way back, where we scoop generous amount of the river water onto our neighbouring kayaks.

Understandably, everyone was dead beat on the bus journey back, including me. That is why I could not have taken any photos of the tired faces. Still, I think that photo at the top can fully describe the whole situation on the bus, perhaps with the addition of some rosy cheeks. ;)

(All of us had either a great tan/lobster-skin burn/sunburn faces that look like rosy cheeks at the end of the day.)
