Dilemma

As I was on my way to work this morning, I gave up my seat to an elderly auntie standing a few seats away. Well, this post is nothing about noble acts, but the story AFTER the act.

The real scene looks like this: A middle aged auntie was standing next to me where I was sitting. I do not have the warm fuzzy feeling within to urge me to give up my precious seat for her; but seeing the bus moving in a jerky motion and her struggle to balance herself, I figured that I'd be a jerk not to give up my seat. And so I did. But she didn't accept it, instead she asked her elderly friend who's standing a few seats away to come over. No problem, I thought and I moved away from my seat.

Now, that sounds like a happy ending. However, those 2 aunties proceed to engage in a conversation so loud that it made the TVmobile onboard insignificant. They were chatting in dialect to their hearts' content, pausing only to take a short breather. Neither of them was aware that they are setting the new Olympics record for the highest decibel recorded in a morning bus.

It was then that I started to regret my decision. And that is the crux of the question: Have I really done a good deed or have I caused the entire bus of passengers their early morning tranquility. Haha.. humor aside, we should all still give up our seats to someone who needs it more than us. Question I have is, should I do it at the expense of others' peace? hahaha.
