损人不利己-that's what they call it in chinese and this is exactly what this character in the game of "Citadel" does. I have first hand experience while playing with a grp of friends on Sun.
I had a Dragon's Gate district card on my hand (cost 6 gold to build but worth 8 points). Being disadvantaged for a few rounds; getting bewitched by Sen Hui, cards swapped by others etc, I thought this is my chance to strike it big. Against the backdrop of a super-city built by Michelle that's currently worth many points. Just when I saved up enough money to build, Sen Hui bewitched me and Juliana chose to see the cards in my hand and of course took my best card, the Dragon's Gate.
Trying to salvage the situation, I assumed wizard's role and took back the card frm her, uttering Zhou Runfa's famous phrase in "Curse of the Golden Flower":"What's yours is yours, if I never give it to you, you can't take it". Because my gold has depleted, I had to accumulate it again. So, for the next few rounds, I bit my time and took wizard every time so that no one can swap my cards. Who knows Jul the witch bewitched me and swapped cards with me!! Uttering the "Zhou Runfa phrase" to me at the same time :(
(hmm sounds funny if you think abt it; witch bewitching wizard and swap cards with wizard. Shld hav a rule to ban this!)
Before I knew it, she immediately built the Dragon's Gate district with the money she had already accumulated. Celebrating her new found victory against me too soon, I immediately assumed Warlord and destroyed her Dragon's Gate with almost all my gold(5 gold to destroy) in a dramatic change of events. Thus, I became the last person to utter the phrase to her:"What's yours is yours, if I never give it to you, you can't take it", much to the joy of others esp Michelle. See who have the last laugh now hahaha :)
However, what followed was that both of us were officially out of the race for top position; Jul with both her high level districts destroyed and me with most of my money spent destroying hers and building warlord districts. (no chance to get Multi-colored City Award). However, I did get the kick out of avenging myself and seeing Jul's face when i did that. (hehe.. no hard feelings, Jul) Of course, Michelle benefited most from this entire saga. Reminds me of another incident betw Tintin and Danny when Danny destroyed his Dragon's Gate because Tintin stole his money. haha.. Seems like Dragon's Gate is the common factor here.
And there you have it; to be a good Warlord, one must be willing to do things that will harm others without bringing any benefits to oneself. =)
