Missing the bus

This morning, as I was heading to work, I saw my direct bus (124) arriving at the bus stop 50m ahead of me. I wanted to run for it but my participation in the "Sat Sports Marathon" has left me with a body of aching muscles. It's not hard to imagine why: Basketball in the morning, captain's ball in the afternoon followed by soccer. After all the "work" on Sat, boy am I glad that God created a Sabbath day.

Therefore, I was experiencing what is known as "the mind is willing but the body is weak", cos' there was little I can do as I watched the bus 124 drove away while I slowly walked towards it. Now, I do have another choice of bus (21) to take but it's an indirect route to work; requires transit at MRT. Shortly, bus 21 came and I boarded it, still thinking about how nice it'd be if I had taken bus 124.

Not long after, I saw my bus overtaking bus 124 at a traffic light junction where there was heavy traffic pileup on the left lane especially. Bus 21 takes the right lane so it moves faster while 124 is turning left. What's more, as my bus was turning, I saw that the road 124 will be turning into had traffic back-to-back all the way to the next traffic light.

At that moment, I realized I might get stuck in a horrible morning rush-hour jam if I had taken the other bus. That is when I realized that God actually has plans for letting me miss my bus. How true is this also for my life! Many a times, I have plans which I want to accomplish at my specific time. I wanted to "catch my bus" so that things will go according to my plan and to save time. So when I "miss my bus", when things get delayed and time seems to be wasted, I wonder why such things happen. Little do I realized that God's plan is actually at work. His plans are better because He knows what "jams" are ahead. His plans are better because His timing is perfect. His plans are better because He knows that the main focus is not "catching the bus" but "reaching in time". And what more can I say, His timing is always perfect.
